ABOUT WENVERTER Ltd
Wenverter Ltd. is an R&D company with the mission to solve the marine wave energy capture and conversion problem. The name is an abbreviation of the words wave energy converter. The company is currently developing its first product, Wenverter OSWEC (oscillating surge wave energy converter), with support from the University of Edinburgh.
The Wenverter OSWEC device captures wave energy by using a flap and converts it to electricity within the flap. The Wenverter’s Power Take-Off (PTO) is made with non-hydraulic mechanical parts and provides direct rotation to a generator. The PTO does not require the use of any kind of seals. It is entirely enclosed and fully protected from the corrosive sea water throughout the device’s life cycle. The PTO is split in modules which are easier to handle, replace and service.
Wenverter OSWEC's architecture allows for a fixed installation at variable depths. This enables the safe co-location with offshore wind turbines.
